Glitter Nail Polish Removal Tutorial
Hi friends!! I got a request a week or so ago to show my technique for removing glitter polish. It's really easy so I decided to give you a look into my method for removing stubborn glitter. After I reviewed Zoya Magical Pixie Dust, I went ahead and took photos of my process. :)
The supplies: glitter polish, cotton ball, Zoya Remove+ |
I break up the cotton ball into 5 pieces. When I use the bigger size balls I tear into 6 pieces actually and use the last piece for the stubborn bits of glitter at the end.
I get each piece of cotton soaked with remover.
Stick each wet piece of cotton on a nail and let sit for about 4-5 minutes, then swipe it down and off the nail.
As you can see, I could have left my cotton on a bit longer, I had some stubborn bits and used another cotton ball to get the rest off which isn't too hard because it's already been loosened.
The last step of my routine is to go to the sink where I have a soft toothbrush and a gentle soap and I brush off the remover remains and glitter bits left stuck to the skin. Then I apply a nail oil to the cuticles and nail bed, and lotion. My oil of choice lately are either Bella10 or Josie Maran from sephora.com. I either use the Bella10 lotion seen in the review I linked or Cetaphil Cream that I got at Costco!
And there you have it! Anything else on hand-nail care that you'd like to know? Feel free to ask :)
XO, Victoria
Great tutorial!
ReplyDeleteAh-ha, great technique! I never though of using cotton balls... must pick some up!
ReplyDeletemy most recent discovery was using glue as a base for glitter nails. Its amazing. Doesn't work quite as well with textured polish, but removal took 10 minutes instead of 30!!
ReplyDeleteI do this too - except I put a rubber finger protector over my finger ends to keep the cotton wool in place and stop the nail polish remover from drying out :)
ReplyDeleteHi, great tutorial!
ReplyDeleteDo you think you could do a tutorial on how you shape your nails? They're gorgeous. Thanks!
thanks for the share. really appreciate that ♥
ReplyDeleteI do the same as UKNailRunner and use the rubber finger protector things (instead of foil) over the cotton...
ReplyDeleteI also used to unroll and cut up cotton balls. I ended up buying a really big box of cotton rope at beauty supply. I keep it under my desk and just pull out a length and cut it up in cotton ball sized pieces.
Got it down to a science :) I also like Zoya Remove+
I love that you use cotton wool instead of foil...the foil seems more abrasive to the nails in my opinion. Great tutorial! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely need to keep this mind, I love glitter nail polish, but it can definitely be a hassle to remove.

Great post, thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for this great tutorial! I wasn't leaving the cotton on long enough, and now I know 5 minutes at least!
ReplyDeleteGreat tutorial, thank you for this! No more foils!
ReplyDeleteNice post. I have tried this technique and it works.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what I do! Works every time! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so trying this! I always take the cotton off too soon.
ReplyDeleteYour nails are so amazingly beautiful. Sigh.... really, just lovely.
You have such gorgeous nails Victoria! I would love to know what you do to prevent/get rid of stains. It seems no matter what I do I can't get rid of them or prevent them.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteI found pure acetone to be too drying for me!
ReplyDeleteWorks like a charm! :)
ReplyDeleteEven more perfect. I need to get some of those!
ReplyDeleteAw! Thanks Sandra! Not sure I could make it interesting enough. I file (with glass file only) straight across with my palm towards me, then gently round corners. And I do my best to keep them uniform to each other. That's about it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so surprised to see how many people appreciated this simple post! Thanks for suggesting it. xoxo
ReplyDeleteGotta love the nail science!! :P :D
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yep, this is super easy and gentle.
ReplyDeleteThis method still takes time, but not too much rubbing and scrubbing ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, you're welcome!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! <3
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Hope it helps!
ReplyDeleteYup! Easy, right?
ReplyDeleteAw! Thanks so much! And I'm always self conscious showing them bare!
ReplyDeleteYou are too sweet! Thank you! They are stained compared to my dominant hand! I don't know..I (mostly) just use base coat. No other secrets!
ReplyDeleteTry diluting a little bit of bleach in a sinkful of water and then do dishes in it (so that the water isn't wasted) without gloves on. It worked great for me on a stubborn blue, plus it is good for sanitizing the sink and the dishes. The instructions on the back of the bleach bottle should tell you how much to use for dishes.
