OPI Gwen Stefani Collection Over & Over A-Gwen and In True Stefani Fashion Glitter Middle Gradient Nail Art

press samples
Hello! I've got the remaining two from OPI Gwen Stefani collection to show you today. I put the other 5 from the set in a fun star nail art you can see here, if you missed it.

OPI Over and over A-Gwen  - Sexy red with an impeccable formula. I used two coats.
OPI_Gwen_Stefani_Collection_Over_&_Over_A-Gwen_and_In_True_Stefani_Fashion_Glitter_Gradient_Nail_Art
I added the square stud to my wet nail on ring finger after I applied the second coat. I didn't think to wait to add it to the top coat, so the ring finger has no top coat.
OPI_Gwen_Stefani_Collection_Over_&_Over_A-Gwen_and_In_True_Stefani_Fashion_Glitter_Gradient_Nail_Art
OPI In True Stefani Fashion - sparkly goodness with small silver holo glitters including squares!  Adding the glitter was fairly easy, I just used the polish brush and dabbed in the middle and then outward. Topped with Seche Vite to smooth out the glitter in the center.

Another I absolutely did not want to take off! I'm totally in love with this simple glittered up look. Are you a fan? Remember, these are LE. You know what that means, Get em while you can!

The Digital Dozen Monochrome Vintage Freehand Brocade Nail Art

press sample
Hi there. So, today is the day I sadly announce my departure from the Digital Dozen nail art group. I have been with the group since day one and it was a very hard and even sentimental decision to make! You may have noticed last month's theme (monochrome) came and went and I didn't post anything for it. This month's theme (vintage) came and went and I didn't post anything for it. And the months previous to that I couldn't manage to get the full week done. I know it's time for me to move on but I've procrastinated this post. I'm incredibly grateful for the friends I've made in that close knit group of ladies. I'm incredibly grateful for all the talent, the prompts and the deadlines that made me push myself and grow as a nail artist. I decided to create a design that combined the last two themes which I missed, monochrome and vintage. And I tried to push myself with the freehand design but I'm afraid this isn't as great as I envisioned it would be.

press sample
Happy weekend everyone!! Hope you are enjoying it. I have a brand that is new to me to share with you, and a monthly "club" that I am excited about. LAQA & Co. is a very cool NY based cosmetics company. They offer Nail Polish Pens - high gloss nail lacquer in a pen, so you can
easily do your nails anywhere in just a few clicks, Fat Lip Pencil,
a glossy lip pencil in a handy jumbo pencil - that needs no sharpener.

And what makes this company extra special  - they’re little pieces of art too.
Their packaging is unique artwork by young artists looking to get their
work seen by lots and lots of people. The Artists get a cut of the profit from
every product purchased. How cool is that? Let me show you what I received then I'll describe the Color of the Month Club that they created a few months ago.

Rescue Beauty Lounge A Poem Collection Swatch and Review

press sample
It is truly my honor to show you the newest collection from Ji Baek, creator of Rescue Beauty Lounge. I've been a Rescue Beauty fan from the first moment I laid eyes (and nails of course) on one. I admire her creative journey so much and her insistence on following an artistic passion and paying no heed to what may or may not be "trending" at the moment. This holds true for A Poem collection. Her vision for this collection, in her words:
I'm wobbling on the icy sidewalks of Manhattan against the sharp, brutal wind, which is mockingly slicing my face into pieces. I feel like I’m five years old again trapped in my one-
piece zip-up snowsuit unable to raise my arms, intently concentrating with knitted brows trying not to walk sideways and fall on my derrière. There are so many layers underneath my puffy coat that I feel immobile and stuck. I grip the railing as I descend down to the subway, my boots crunching the grayed crystal snow-salt beneath me as I slide down the stairs. At the subway platform we’re all children again waiting for the school bus on a wintry morning, puffing out our breaths through our cocooned scarves with only our eyes peering through a tiny space like ninjas.

A text notification vibrates, my girlfriend (an ex-New Yorker) now living on West Coast: "Augh! Another stupid sunny day here! I miss New York, the cold, my sweaters and coats *cat face with tears* emoji."

I immediately reply with: "Three *angry red devil faces* emoji" while I mentally utter explosive curses at her—I picture her wearing flip-flops and shorts. Immaturely, at that moment, I hate her and pout like a child.

At the studio, I’m stirring the last shimmery touches on my mixing table, the almost completed color mixes for The Fan Collection 2.0 consume me. They are stunningly beautiful and simply lovely, yet, for my next round of mixing, I cannot fathom working with anything this pretty so soon. Instead, I start craving sensible soft cotton undies and my oldest sweats from college. That's the outfit I'd wear as I picture myself munching on Doritos and washing it down with beer while watching horrific “Lifetime” movies—I crave dichotomy. That's when I remember this quote from "The Age of Miracles" by Karen Thompson Walker: "Even beauty, in abundance, turns creepy." I then call my girlfriend, I understand our finicky hearts.

My thirst to seek some kind of alluring forlornness leads me to words. Wordsmithing entrances me, I can marinate myself for days with its craft. Words are a magical and ancient medium. Great writers use words to depict the cinematic or to hint at nuances of imagination. Would I? Can I humbly dare to translate that into colors?

As soon as I read “Ghost House,” by Robert Frost (published on public domain), the colors revealed themselves. It was as if I was physically walking along the patch of earth from the poem. There are many layers in those verses that illuminate one’s soul; I’ve attempted to translate this into layers of colors. This entire collection was curated by a harmony of hues that go seamlessly hand in hand, including the glitters that can be layered with the opaque colors to give depth and texture depending on one's mood.

It's rare for me to make four opaque colors in one collection, but these earthy palettes ravished me, when I read the poem, these colors seduced me. The opaques themselves are all demurely quiet, neutral and wearable, yet sophisticatedly pensive for all occasions and seasons (my own version of the perfect little black dress). I know, I know, scandalously, there is only one color with that shimmery sensation and I've crushed on glitter again. That last time you've witnessed this was circa 2009.

Unfolding the ocean full of desires has completed this puzzle and it makes my hunger complete. I hope you’ll enjoy this journey as much as I did.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Swatch and Review

press sample
Are you a fan of Rescue Beauty Lounge? If so, then you must already know that the newest collection "A Poem" will be unveiled tomorrow at noon, with a preorder beginning at noon on Friday 2/7. I am beyond thrilled to be included in the very small roster of ladies who will be swatching this collection. In honor of that, and to whet our RBL whistles, I'm posting some amazing shades I've received and perhaps you'll be able to include some oldies in with your next order <3 All swatches are with Rescue Beauty lounge base coat and top coat, with ring and thumb showing it with Rescue Beauty Lounge Matte top coat.

Rescue_Beauty_Lounge_Pink_Shimmer
 Rescue Beauty Lounge Pink Shimmer

I swatched this one first, because (shhh) honestly, I wasn't expecting to fall in love with it. But once I had it on I just kept thinking it reminded me of the inside of a shell and I wished I didn't have to take it off to keep swatching. I have on three coats and the shimmer is subtle but surely visible. Unfortunately, this is the only one of the bunch I'm showing you today that is no longer available. So sorry about that!!

Rescue_Beauty_Lounge_Grunge
Rescue Beauty Lounge Grunge a classic that I had yet to try! Rescue Beauty calls this "a moody pinkish gray with a dash of lilac." It leans more pinky taupe on me I think. All the same, it's lovely and incredibly work appropriate. I have on two coats here, wonderful formula, love it matte too.
Rescue_Beauty_Lounge_Grunge

Rescue_Beauty_Lounge_Stormy
Rescue Beauty Lounge Stormy a "moody and mysterious dark gray".  Excellent formula, 2 coats here, and perfect matted as well!
Rescue_Beauty_Lounge_Stormy

Rescue_Beauty_Lounge_Stormy

Rescue_Beauty_Lounge_Coral
Rescue Beauty Lounge Coral a truly vibrant shade! Yet I must confess, this one gave me trouble to capture correctly. It's leaning a bit too red in my photos and try as I could it's not exactly color accurate! Sad me! Another excellent formula, you could almost get away with one coat. I udes two here, just to be sure.

Quick shot of the matte ring finger. This also looks great matte, but I prefer it super glossy :)
Rescue_Beauty_Lounge_Cerise_Noir
Rescue Beauty Lounge Cerise Noir  - "black cherries dipped in dark chocolate". My favorite of the group by far. This is 2 coats, perfect formula, high shine. This is the one I simply couldn't take off. Can you blame me?

Nail polish AND chocolate? A big fat (no pun intended) yes for me. I received these two chocolate inspired shades by Nicole by OPI to review plus two bags of Dove chocolates. I'm terribly sorry I don't have photos of the chocolates to show you. But that is just evidence of how really very good they are! I could not stop eating them.
