KBShimmer Early Summer 2014 Creams - Tape Nail Art

Press sample
Hi! Hope you are doing great! I'm knee deep in getting my house ready to sell. Phew that's a lot of work isn't it? Especially when you have lived in it like you'd never ever leave. Cannot believe how much stuff we have accumulated! Anyway, I won't bore you with that...just be on the lookout for an epic grab-bag sale and a few giveaways to help clear out my 2,000+ collection. That's right...I finally counted all my polishes for the first time ever. Have you counted yours?
So, you probably know that KBSimmer's Early Summer collection went on sale last week!! Yip yip! LOVE this brand and each collection always makes me ooh and ah. Today I tested out the three cremes just released and put them into a simple color block that shows off each shade. I'll have the three glitters and six holos to show you soon as well :)

KBShimmer-Early-Summer-2014-Let's-Not-Coral-Creme-Colorblock-Nail-Art
KBShimmer Let's Not Coral - a pink leaning coral that sometimes seems more pink, sometimes more orange. I'm not a big coral person, but this one won me over instantly. Flawless formula and opaque and shiny in 2 coats.
KBShimmer-Early-Summer-2014-Creme-Colorblock-Nail-Art
Super easy, but striking mani. I simply taped off the middle and applied two coats of Low & Be Bold and Right As Reign (also perfect formulas!). I put Right As Reign on the tips and it shows as a deep purple navy. I put Low & Be Bold next to the cuticles and it's a bright cobalt blue, with a slight jelly finish (again, perfect formula!) Love the contrast with these shades and the mani was just full of saturated color.

KBShimmer creams are $7.50 available now at kbshimmer.com and harlowandco.org

Intrinsics Pillowettes Review

*Edited with updated contest info*
Sponsored
A nail/beauty care product review for you today. I was sent these neat cotton "pillows" to try out, so naturally I tested them out to remove nail polish. It's a new product sold through distributors and I've actually never seen anything like it.

The website describes them as: "...miniature pillows filled with absorbent and luxurious cotton. 100% soft cotton surrounded by a neat slip-case so you may slide your fingers in for easier control. Ideal for makeup removal, face and nail use, or for waxing applications, our Pillowettes promise not only to be the most comfortable you’ve ever used, but the most dependable, too.
Benefits:
  • Lint-free
  • Use during gel nail services
  • Ideal for make-up removal and facials
  • Apply post wax lotions and calming gels

They come well packaged in a box that can be tabbed shut to keep out dust.

I used one pad to remove three coats of texture polish. So, it had to do some work to get the polish off. It held up for all five nails on one hand. No shredding or falling apart of the pad and it didn't leave cotton fluffs or remnants behind. I was definitely impressed.
Intrinsics-Pillowettes
I also tried it out with my waterproof mascara remover, and it worked flawlessly. Very easy to use and not rough on the delicate eye area.
Intrinsics-Pillowettes
An additional use, it's possible to remove toe nail polish with these without ruining your manicure! Hallelujah! And I love that these don't leave lint or cotton strands behind :)

China Glaze Sea Goddess Collection Freehand Gingham Nail Art

Press sample
The Summer collections have started to roll in and eek, I have quite a bunch of Spring ones to show off still. I gather most of you have seen swatches of Spring shades so I will be trying to keep up with Summer swatches while still bringing you Spring shades via nail art! So ever since these China Glaze beauties showed up I've been dying to use them. They are just the kind of shades I adore and I was not disappointed. I think they are great on their own, and super cute all worked into the same mani.

I began this manicure with 2 coats of Sand Dolla Make You Holla which I just love. Offers a clean looking, textured look with multi-colored micro glitters.

I used the other five from this set to hand paint the stripes from thumb to pinky: Teal The Tide Turns, Tail Me Something, Wish On A Starfish, Seahorsin Around, Shell We Dance

For a quick and simple design, I really liked how these turned out though I would have liked them better if the lines were perfect...you know how I am about clean lines, right? :P

It really seems like textures are here to stay. Do you agree?

A deep cobalt blue crelly (but more cream), opaque in 1-2 coats. Loaded with flakes in gold, turquoise, and silver plus glitters in opaque matte medium and small lagoon hex, opaque matte small and medium dark lagoon blue hex, regal red metallic small hex, classic and light gold hex inmedium and small, silver metallic hex in small and medium, small copper metallic hex, ocean blue small and medium metallic hex. (Description from Jindie Nails)
Jindie-Nails-Mr-President-JFK-Famous-Couples
I used 2 coats and it was easily opaque. Formula is great, jam packed with glitters, so it just takes some patience spreading it out.
Jindie-Nails-Mr-President-JFK-Famous-Couples
Definitely feels like a good presidential representation to me! Do you agree?

Dollish-Polish-Marilyn-Famous-Couples
 Dollish Polish Marilyn
Dollish-Polish-Marilyn-Famous-Couples
A jam packed red glitter that is full opaque in 2-3 coats. It has small and medium red glitters, iridescent purple flecks and hot pink shimmer flecks, all in a slightly red tinted jelly base. You could also use this one as a glitter topper, but it looks best on its own in 2-3 coats. (Description from Dollish Polish)
Dollish-Polish-Marilyn-Famous-Couples
I did need 3 coats for this one to be opaque and the formula was a little thick, so you can see this polish shows a visible amount of thickness on the nail. The formula was otherwise easy to work with. It is absolutely stunning, of course the camera doesn't capture the true glittery jelly sandwich effect it has. Very fitting for a Marilyn Monroe image, right?

Keep your eye out for actual release date between May 14 - May 20th! The duo's are $20 and available from JindieNails.com and DollishPolish.com
