Serum No. 5 Swatch and Review
Happy Friday everyone! Has it been a long week for you too? We've been having hard times at Chez Manicurator for a few months now, so I've been looking for the little things to keep me happy. This collection from Serum No. 5 has actually helped keep my mood up. I had never tried any Serums before so when the creator, also a Victoria :D asked if I wanted to swatch for her of course I jumped at the chance. I have 8 from the Holiday '13 collection and 2 from the core line to show you. These are all 3-free, mixed by hand in small batches and the best part? Victoria gives 20% of the profits each month to a charitable donation.
Let's take a minute to marvel over the packaging. Of course what matters most is the quality of the polish that is inside the bottle, but I do love when an Indie line has put so much thought, time and love into the packaging and presentation of their product. Note that these come in 9ml and 16.7ml.
Serum No 5 Friendly Tiffs a Tiffany blue with shimmer. This one applies a little thick/chalky and isn't entirely self leveling, I used 3 coats here. Still beautiful though!
Serum No 5 Holly Dazed one coat over Friendly Tiffs. I wanted to pair up the Christmas-y looking glitter in a somewhat unexpected way so I layered it over the Tiffany blue. Easy application, just the right amount of glitter.
Serum No 5 Gild Free creamy base with different size and shape gold glitters and subtle shimmer, excellent formula. I used three coats here and just loved wearing this one!
Serum No 5 Girl's BFF a "silvery platinum bling". I agree!! Effortless application, seen here is one coat over Glitter Gal Big Smoke (a dark gray creme). What's not to like about this one?
Serum No 5 Girl's Gotta Eat gold and glitter! Love this one and this combo was stunning if I do say so ;) I dabbed in a gradient fashion one coat over 2 coats of Rescue Beauty Lounge Cerise Noir.
Serum No 5 Luxe So Good a true silver stunning linear holo. Almost a one coater, but I used two coats here to be sure. I cannot say enough wonderful about this polish. My photos are under a daylight bulb...but that doesn't do justice to the nature of this. WOW. It's amazing in real life :D
Serum No 5 Final Countdown added to Luxe So Good. I used two coats and had no issues with application. It does need a top coat to bring out the shine and glitters as it dries on the gritty side.
Serum No 5 Snow In Love (glow in the dark) is something special! This is the one that especially cheered me up during long nights of my 4yr olds being up sick with norovirus, I'd catch a glimpse of my nails...GLOWING all through the night...and it managed to lift my spirits :) I didn't get any good glowing photos but this one has a bright blue/white glow to it. I used three coats here but you could probably get away with 2 coats. You'll need top coat as it dries on the gritty side.
Serum No 5 Sky Lights (glow in the dark) and Misa Little Hands
Serum No 5 Sky Lights 2 coats over Misa Little Hands. I love love this combo and can't wait to try Sky Lights over a baby pink as well. Again, I didn't capture the glow in the dark with this one either. It's a blue glow but not as strong as in Snow In Love. Sky Lights is part of the core collection PHEW cause it's gorgeous.
*Note* Day Glow is also part of the core line, and is not pictured here. I'm planning on doing some nail art with it and saving it for a separate post.
What do you think? Any must haves for you?
All the best,
