Dior Vernis Bird of Paradise Collection Samba and Bahia duo Swatch and Review and Nail Art

PR sample
Hello loves!!
The summer 2013 Bird of Paradise Collection by Dior Vernis is here! Available at Dior counters and now. These are smaller sized bottles and come as a pair. Each duo includes 2x 0.23oz bottles. I did a simple nail art look for each set, I wanted to show how they paired, but also show enough of each shade to let you see exactly what each one looks like.
Dior Vernis Samba set on the left, Bahia set on the right.
This is described as "sea blue" from the Samba set. It feels more green and pistachio to me, but yes, sea green if you are in the right location :)
This is two very easy coats with a stellar formula, over 1 coat of Dior ridge filler base coat. No top coat! This one is a clear winner for me.

My simple nail art look with the Samba set. The second polish is described as "shimmering peacock feather green" and I want to marry it. I absolutely love it, application was easy, this is 2 coats on the tips followed by Dior Gel Coat top coat.

First polish I used from the Bahia set described as "hibiscus pink" applied with ease, two coats for opaqueness. My photos developed with too much red in them, so I color adjusted to get as close to the actual color as I could. In reality I think the color leans a tiny bit more purple/magenta.

My simple nail art with the Bahia set, using two coats of the second color described as "petroleum blue" which is a thing. Yes, I googled it. It's exactly petroleum blue :) My photos showed it a little too navy, so again, I tried to color correct.
Both manicures were topped off with Dior Gel Coat which I love! I'm always nervous to try a new top coat when I've spent so much time on a nail design, creating perfect lines. Happy to report that this one covers, glosses and smooths equivalent to Seche Vite. With no smearing and no tip shrinkage.

My one and only gripe with these...too small. I want full size bottles of this beauty in a bottle!<3 Have you picked up either set? Which one is more "you"? If I had to get just one of them it would be the Samba set for sure.

All the best,

Mont Bleu Czech Glass Nail File Review plus U.S. and International GIVEAWAY!

PR sample
Hi everyone!!
Happy to share with you today an important part of everyone's nail care routine! What nail file do I use and recommend? When I started blogging a little bit over a year ago, my nails were short and would constantly peel. I had a hard time getting them to grow. I had been using a standard emery board. I did some research and switched over to glass files and tried a few different kinds (Sephora and drugstore purchases). After a while my nails stopped peeling and grew out nicely!! I cannot attribute that solely to the switch to glass nail files because I also added other new nail care rituals to my routine. However, I do think it helped!
Which brings me to today. A month or so ago I received this wonderful package from to test out and report back to you about. I've been using these exclusively ever since and can honestly tell you they are top quality and perform exactly as they are supposed to.  Here's where to find them: facebook and twitter. If you decided to shop on their website use the code BLOG for 20% off :D They have also been very generous to offer a gift card GIVEAWAY for my readers!! You may get lucky! Open internationally, the gift card value is 25 Euro or 30 USD depending on where you live. Enter through the rafflecopter at the end of the post. Now, let's look!
They each arrived in their own protective case. They won't guard against breakage, but it's nice to keep them stored in their "sleeve".
The largest nail file, with Swarovski crystals is perfect for toe nails. Works with ease. The purple gradient and blue gradient with Swarovski crystals are the standard size and work perfectly for me to both take down length and get a very smooth edge. They have not shown any signs of wear whatsoever.

This last one is a mini file, which I just adore, and it travels in my bag with me! No more snags or waiting until I get home to take off that rough edge or file a cracked corner.
And lastly, the tweezers in a happy orange with matching Swarovski crystals. This just makes me happy. It will not be replacing my longterm relationship with Tweezerman, but these are now taking residence at my work table. I find it invaluable to keep a pair of tweezers handy when painting, especially when doing nail art. Tweezers are very good at placing and removing striping tape, or that stray cat hair or errant glitter.

There are so many styles to choose from (plus a whole host of other goodies on the site) that you will have a hard time picking a favorite. At least I did. This little act of reaching for the nail file, which we nail obsessed do countless times, now makes me happy. I do love my sparkles :)

So, please enter the giveaway, and let me know which one you ordered if you do end up buying. They are just so fun!

All the best,

piCture pOlish Honeydew and Kryptonite Nail Art

PR sample
Hi all!
It's piCture pOlish day again! As I sat looking at the last two I have for review, I realized, they would look great together, so I combined them in a simple chevron stripe.
piCture pOlish can be purchased from and other retailers in the piCture pOlish networkUSA price is $12.50 and it will be available at piCture pOlish on-line for AUD$10.00.
Facebook - piCture pOlish - a week on your tips never on your hips!
Twitter - piCture pOlish
Instagram - piCture pOlish
Pinterest - piCture pOlish
piCture pOlish Honeydew needed 3 coats for full coverage and is a perfect mint creme. Kryptonite worked well for nail art, and was opaque in 2 coats.
These swatches are without top coat.
A bottle shot of Kryptonite, because it's that pretty!

What do you think? Do you like these colors together? I love the way a simple addition can totally transform a mani.

Be well!

Alessandro Peachy Cinderella Swatch and Review with Glitter Flower Nail Art - Digit-al Dozen Bling Week

PR sample
Hey everyone!!
Happy Wednesday! Are the days and weeks flying by or is it just me? I'm working hard at catching up with the reviews that I owe. So, you can expect a steady stream of posts from me in the next few weeks :)
Here's one that I owe, and it's a brand new line for me. A new line for all of us (in the U.S.) in fact! Check out their facebook page and shop for one of 99 shades on their website. Also known as the sister brand to Tweezerman, Alessandro is one of the leading luxury nail polish and hand care brands in Europe and they have officially crossed the ocean to launch 99 fabulous shades of nail color (and more) in the USA.  If there's a color you are looking for, chances are you will find that Alessandro makes it!
Alessandro Peachy Cinderella is a salmon peach shade. Great formula, you are seeing a full non streaky coverage at 2 coats here.
After the second coat was applied, I used my smallest dotting tool to pick up and place yellow circle glitters previously reviewed from Born Pretty Store, and diamond glitters I picked up from an Etsy shop.
The one above is one shot of this look before top coat went on. I'm trying out some new watermarks with a new program. What do you think?
As far as nail art goes, this is a super pretty, fun look that is relatively easy to accomplish. My only advice is to use 2 coats of top coat as the diamond glitter corners can pop up if not sealed down nicely. I have one coat of Seche Vite here.

I know it's not exceptionally BLINGlike, but they are blingtastic flowers, and I LOVE how they turned out. Based on this one shade, I certainly would recommend Alessandro nail polish. Have you heard of them yet? Do you have any?

Be well, catch you tomorrow!
