April Showers Bring May Flowers - Ombre

Hello!
Today I bring you the 6th design in this Spring challenge. I'd better get cracking or it will be Autumn before I complete it ;) This one is an "ombre", which is french for shaded. It translates in fashion to having a gradient of color from light to dark. I LOVE IT. Always have.

I used to be a purist when it comes to ombre on the nails, thinking every color had to be the exact same finish and perfectly gradiented (probably not a word, but I'm cool with the occasional made up word.) These you can see are not the same finish, ranging from slight pearlized frost to creme to shimmer and metallic. And I like it. Like it a lot :) I think it looks classy. I decided my final manicure will be an ombre with my very first attempt at stamping.

Here's my zoya line up: Christinna, Dove, Tao, Freja and Raven. The polish laying in front is Trixie which I used for the stamping you will see as you read further.

Do you like my new system for polish swatches? I hate keeping them on the nail wheel, hard to keep track of, hard to compare, hard to organize by brand or by color, so I'm separating them onto individual sticks :D

And here's my very first attempt at stamping. I used Zoya Trixie for the stamp and Konad m51. I only messed up the first nail (thumb) by not putting the stamp low enough on my nail.

Visit Rebecca's awesome tutorial on stamping. It really helped me get this one done :)

  2. Ooh! I love this take on the ombre! It is definitely helping to convince me that the polishes don't have to all be the same finish.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. THANK YOU! Very sweet. Glad I inspire you :) The stamp is a Konad plate, I added the info to the blog post (I had forgotten to say which plate it was).

  11. This is my favourite ombre mani that I've seen!! I like how much the shades contrast each other, yet still look 'shaded'.
