Lazy Days of Summer - Fave towel - hearts (including tutorial)
I had so many choices for this challenge, we have a pool and therefore some really great pool/beach towels. But, one of my 3 yr old twins always asks for this one, which just gives me a warm fuzzy feeling. My little love bug <3
With the tape on your nail (I always do one at a time) carefully paint on each color. Move quickly and neatly, I did 2 coats of each heart color, unless it's a very opaque polish, which is preferred especially over black. Then slowly peel up the tape, at an angle from one end to the other. I always allow the design to "set" for a bit before top coating and I always have the most success with Seche Vite not smearing the finished design.
I think I really nailed (hehehee) this one, looks just like the towel, right? I love doing tape manis for sure! :) Have you mastered the tape yet? No idea what I'm going to do for the next theme, "pool party" yet...stay tuned...

TUTORIAL:
I had gone to Michael's in search of hole punchers after I saw a pin on Pinterest with the idea. I wanted the star one for a 4th of July mani, but they were out. I got the heart one, knowing I'd find many uses for it! I was planning to put each piece of tape on aluminum foil to eliminate the stick factor while punching out the shape. I tried that and it worked ok, but then I read Sarah at Chalkboard Nails recommended backing with wax paper. Sure enough, that worked great! I had no problems peeling the tape (you have to use the blue electrical tape) off the wax paper once the hearts were punched out.
I kept the flip top open so I could see where to place the hole puncher!
After my base coat and 2 coats of black were THOROUGHLY dry, I placed my tape where I wanted it and used a small dotter to smooth it down around the inside edge of the tape. If you don't do this, the polish will bleed and your line won't be smooth when you pull up the tape. With the tape on your nail (I always do one at a time) carefully paint on each color. Move quickly and neatly, I did 2 coats of each heart color, unless it's a very opaque polish, which is preferred especially over black. Then slowly peel up the tape, at an angle from one end to the other.
