F4 Polish Purple Skies swatch and review

An emotional post for me today. Yesterday was a very hard day for me once I realized the date coming up. You see, today is 6 years since I last saw my older brother. He had been visiting for the week from law school in California (I'm in NY). We had an amazing week together. Spent quality time and really bonded. I drove him to the airport on July 11 2006, hugged a perfect full of warmth and love kind of bear hug and said goodbye. I got choked up saying goodbye to him cause I felt so much love and we had such a great visit. I didn't want him to leave. I never saw him again. Five months later he was in a skydiving accident and died.

I have really never recovered from his loss. I doubt I ever will. So today hits me hard every year. As does his birthday and the day he died. Sorry for bringing a sadness to my blog today...because I really am a happy person, and this is really a happy place for me. But I wanted to honor him today. I miss him deeply.

The skydiving community wish each other "blue skies". And when someone dies skydiving they have a saying "blue skies, black death." My brother's favorite color was purple. His skydiving outfit was purple. Naturally when I saw this F4 polish named "Purple Skies" I could only think of him. The white and black hexes are life and death in my eyes, surrounded by purple sparkling goodness. I know...a lot to surmise just from a polish. But I can't help it!

It's beautiful, just like every other F4 polish I've worn. You can shop F4 at their Etsy shop and like them on Facebook to keep up to date with them.

I'll let the pictures do the talking now.
2-3 coats of Purple Skies. Seche Vite top coat.

I know this would look lovely over a base color, but I chose to show it on its own.

I'm using this page today, to remind everyone of something so cliche but incredibly important...tell the ones you love that you love them. Every chance you can. I am eternally grateful that the last thing my brother and I said to each other on our last phone call was "I love you."

  12. This post brought me to tears. I am so so sorry for your loss. My younger brother and I have been butting heads lately, which has been hard for me as we've always been very close. This is a good reminder that no matter what little spats we get into, we still love each other.

Also, this polish is awesome. :)

  13. I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't think you ever recover from something like that... I've witnessed this in my mom very recently, who lost her little brother 38 years ago. You figure out how to cope and then you keep on living. Beautiful tribute. <3
