Paint All The Nails Presents Monochrome with OPI, Whats Up Nails and KBShimmer - Heart Nail Art

Hi there! This week is flying for me! How about you? My kids are home on Spring Break and how surprised was I when I realized today was Thursday! And I hadn't even started these nails and they were due today! Oh boy. Me and the rush job again! Sooo, I had not really gotten excited about the theme that the girls in my lovely nail group voted for this month - Monochrome - using only white, grey and black. Hmf. Well despite longing for a colorful theme..I had quite a few ideas running through my head of what I might do. And then the day just sneaked up on me. So this is what I created last minute and yeah...I love it! :D 

Here's the design before I matted it. It looked nice. But for me, matte was the clear winner.

This manicure started off with 1 coat of OPI Alpine Snow. Then I sponged on a gradient of OPI Alpine Snow, Cement The Deal and Embrace The Gray. I top coated with KBShimmer Clearly On Top. Then I used Whats Up Nails Hearts Nail Vinyl and diluted (with Zoya Remove) OPI Who Are You Calling Bossy?!? to fill in the hearts. I intentionally wanted brushstokes and uneven color. I love the raw feel that is giving here. After all, the broken and black hearted have to show their wear and tear. Top coat again with Clearly On Top.

The final step was to use KBShimmer Oh Matte! which works like the bomb of mattifiers!

A look at the Whats Up Nail hearts vinyls. These were easy to work with and I had no issues whatsoever.

My kids thought this was animal pint at first glance...and weren't crazy about the design, but I am lovin it. I adore that I decided to go with the anti-valentine/black hearts feel. Not everyone can have the perfect cheery romance red heart kind of feeling all the time. Am I right?
