Abstract Nail Art Challenge - Water Marble
The day of the water marble is finally here. I'm not going to lie, I was kinda dreading it. My first water marble! I'm for sure pleased with how it turned out. Not bad for a first try :D
The little China Glaze soldiers ready to do battle on the nail beds. I used Strong Adhesion base coat, 2 coats of White on White, marbled with Electric Beat, Fast Track and Sea Spray. Topped with Fast Forward Top Coat.
Look for Day 13 from this challenge on Monday and please check out what the other lovely ladies came up with!

My workspace, different than my photo taking space.
Always start with the thumb when trying out a new art method...it's the easiest finger to hide for photos. Hehehe.
My tape job! This really helps when it's time for clean up.
Pre-cleanup in the fading sunlight.
This could have gone much worse for me ;) So, overall I am happy, but there are a bunch of smudges and nicks and small bubbles (how do you keep the bubbles out?) I wonder how much water marbling practice is in my future. This is such a cool look with sooo many possibilities.

I love it! Water marbling isn't easy but yours came out great!
ReplyDeleteLooks great. I haven't done a water marble yet but it's coming up for me soon! I hear it changes things if you use tap water vs distilled water, warm vs cool, etc. Sounds too finicky for a mani! =)
ReplyDeleteThe bubbles are all about the angle you dip your finger in. You have to dip in at 45 degrees not parallel to the water. That's what I found works the best. I hate those damn bubbles.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors you picked I have only done a water marble once need to try it again
ReplyDeletenice job! I love the colors you chose!

ReplyDeleteGreat job! I'd never guess it was your first try. Where'd you get the little bowls from? I use little paper cups when I marble but I like the look of those bowls...wider than the cup but not too wide and just shallow enough.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love how soft the colors are!
ReplyDeleteI have tried water marble a few times- disaster for me and very messy. Practice makes perfect?
ReplyDeleteAwesome for your first try! I love the colors you chose.
