31DC: Day 24 - Inspired by a book (Kavalier and Clay nail art)

Hello!!
My heart is heavy as I type this...I knew as soon as I read this theme..that I would be using The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay for this post. It is the book with the most important meaning to me as it was recommended to me by my older brother. As adults, my brother and I were both avid readers and bonded over it. We always talked about what books we've read and were reading. He had this uncanny knack for recommending the perfect book for everyone, he was so good at knowing what each of us would like. So he picked this book for me. It was next on my list to read when he died suddenly in a skydiving accident. I went to his home the week after he died to pack up his belongings and found his copy! Since I already had my own copy I gave it to our little brother and I proceeded to read mine with passion, somehow it was as if my brother was still talking to me, through the book. It's a great book indeed, winner of a Pulitzer Prize. I've already been moody this week, as my brother's birthday is in 2 days. He would have turned 46 (he died at 40) so, the timing of this theme feels as if it is divinely appropriate to help me celebrate my brother's life and all that he contributed to me <3

Two coats of Zoya Breezi! Makes the perfect blue sky :)
My color menu: Zoya Breezi, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls and Don't Touch My Tutu, China Glaze Recycle, Ciate Cream Soda, Butter London The Full Monty
I think I should have used a second coat of the light grey..and lined the buildings with a darker color maybe. Also...I should have oriented the building and sky the other way on the thumb :P Otherwise I'm happy with how these look!

Do you have a book that is really sentimental to you? I hardly have time to read now that I'm blogging..this reminds me that I have to make time!!
xo, Victoria
Check out everyone else's book nails :)

  12. The manicure is fabulous. I'm in tears reading your post. Yesterday marked 14 months since I lost my dad at age 51 to cancer. I know how something so simple can mean so much. I actually have his "toy/gadget" box filled with my nail polish. He stored parts to tinker with cars, knives, etc. I store my guilty pleasure there too. Thanks for sharing a part of yourself as well as your manicure with us.
