31DC: Day 7 - Black and White (Bottle splatter nail art)
YAY. Week one is complete!! I thought a lot about what to do for black and white as it is usually such a dramatic look and well, the color choice has already been made...so you can only be creative as to what you want to do with those colors. I wanted to go for something really complex..but then my little man got sick and I needed something that wouldn't take too much time to do or to dry. GOT IT. I turned to my spray bottle splatter that you can see here and here. I'm thrilled because I think this one turned out even better than the first two times I tried it :) What do you think?
So, I started with 2 coats of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (my favorite white by the way) then poured some Milani Black Magic into my spray bottle and added some thinner and shake shake shake and spray!
This is three very easy sprays from the bottle. Clean up was fairly easy too because I coated my hand in vaseline first (make sure not to get any on the nail though)! Here's another one I don't want to take off, it looks even cooler in real life, in my opinion ;)
OK, here's the list. I'm attempting to do one each day...but no promises.
Hope you will enjoy this madness :P

Looks like granite! Gooorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSharra hit it on the head! I LOVE this! Like, seriously. You should make polish strips of this design, I would buy the hell out of them!
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of cookies n cream ice cream! So gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! That was my first thought when I saw the design :) Mmm cookies and cream ice cream :)
DeleteAbsolutely amazing, you've knocked it out of the park! I think your nails remind me of speckled bird eggs, I've seriously got to give this technique a try!

ReplyDeleteThis is great! Looks amazing! Finally- a splatter mani tecnique I can get on board with. Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteThat's an awesome idea. It turned out great!
ReplyDeleteOmg that's so tricky!!! I totally have to give it a try!
ReplyDeletevery cool. It looks like one of my fave semi-precious stones - dalmation jasper. :)
ReplyDeletegorgeous! i think it looks like dalmation jasper too!
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS! Would like to try this! Can the bottle be used again afterwards, or would the nail polish clog it up?
ReplyDeleteHi! I actually used the same bottle that I did my green splatter in. In fact, the green was still in there...so I "rinsed" out the green with acetone (that part was the messiest part of this mani!). And sprayed the acetone through the pump a few times. So, no...nothing got clogged :)
DeleteReminds me of 101 Dalmations <3
ReplyDeleteI love it! I tried the spray bottle too, but my splatters were kind of... big. But since yours turned out so pretty, I need to get it right somehow. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of bird eggs and dalmatians. How do you clean the spray bottle later?
ReplyDeleteHi, I just rinsed it out with acetone.
Deleteall i can think of is cookies and cream. that came out fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI looooove it! I was never a fan of the traditional splatter-type manis but this one looks sooo much cooler! I never even thought of using a spray bottle, such a good idea.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow! This is so gorgeous! I think I might venture outside my box and try this!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I LOVE this! So so cool.
ReplyDeleteI love those!! I'm going to try it!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow this is STUPENDOUS! Love it!
ReplyDeletethat would make for a fantastic blood spatter mani too!
ReplyDeleteI've never hear of this splatter method of using a spray bottle but it's very clever! I will have to try it.
ReplyDeletenice one! splatter nails are so pretty :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cooool!!! I must try one of your spray bottle splatters =)
ReplyDeleteA.M.A.Z.I.N.G!! I really want to try this as well! what sort of a bottle did you use? (I checked out your last post but the top of the bottle (with the sprayer) isn't visible in the photo!)
ReplyDeleteHi Rebecca! T.H.A.N.K.Y.O.U. lol It's just a small sized Bumble and Bumble hair product bottle. It was almost empty, so I just washed it out and re-purposed it :P
Deletewhat other kind of bottles do you think someone could use? an old hairspray or body spray bottle maybe? i HAVE to try this. i'm so jealous of your nails btw.
DeleteSpray bottle! Genius!!!!
ReplyDeletethis looks bloody fabulous xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! They remind me of cute quail eggs. :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this!! I think I have a spray bottle that's almost empty :D Definitely need to try this!!
ReplyDeleteI liked also the other two bottle splatter manicures that you made, but this one I like the most! Good idea for a black & white day of challenge! :-)
ReplyDeleteI really really really need to try this!
ReplyDeleteHow have I never heard of this method? I can't decide which posts to comment on, all of your nail art is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Jaya! I think I MIGHT have invented this..I've never seen another splatter done this way....
DeleteThis is by far one of the coolest splatter manis I've ever seen! <3
ReplyDeleteBy far the best splatter manicure I've ever seen!! I've got just the right spray bottle at home I've got in mind... just need to finish the product inside it now :) Can I ask a stupid question, but what did you use for the "thinner"? was it acetone? or was it something like Seche Restore? I must give this a go myself! xx
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning... what an amazing idea the spray bottle... gotta try this one day!
ReplyDeleteI found you blog linked at Nailderella and became a fan and a follower!

I'm thinking: YES.
ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of a friend's dog she had when we were growing up...can you guess the dog breed? LOL. Her name was Pebbles and yes, she was a Dalmatian. Such a sweet and loving dog! Love the nails. I might have to try that sometime.
ReplyDeleteYour splatter manis are always great! I would like to comment on all of them, but I would have to say the same thing all over again! I am a big fan of your manicures :-D
